The mission of Computer Operations Technology is to provide the necessary technical instruction and skill development for the student to become knowledgeable in the functionality and use of personal computers in today's society. This program teaches a thorough understanding of the personal computers; how they work, how they process data, and how to apply its functions to solutions of personal, business, and industrial problems. Successful students exhibit the attributes of ambition and patience, combined with the ability to think analytically, comprehend and recollect. Students work at their own pace and experience extensive hands-on training with modern computer equipment, peripherals and software. The program can be completed in approximately 18 months.

Training involves a combination of skill assignments and projects designed to provide students with actual job training experience. Students obtain a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishing, multimedia, programming, system set-up, maintenance, upgrading, hardware assembly, basic repair, diagnostics, networking, communications, internet, web page creation, and operating systems. Study prepares students for Microsoft Office Specialist certificate, CompTIA A+ and Network+ certificates.
