The mission of Computer Information Technology is to provide the necessary technical instruction and skill development for the student to become supportive in an Information technology environment. This program teaches a thorough understanding of supporting personal computers, establishing and maintaining computer networks, instituting and sustaining server infrastructures, and how to apply solutions to personal, business, and industrial problems. The program can be completed in approximately 20 months.
Training progresses with informative lectures and applied projects. Study evolves to meet the dynamic needs of the computer industry. The course is organized to educate from user activities with routine computer hardware and operating system support toward local area network support with server and security skills. Students work with a combination of group study and self paced, extensive hands-on training activities involving modern computer equipment, peripherals and software. Successful students exhibit the attributes of ambition and patience, combined with the ability to think analytically, comprehend and recall technical data.
Training involves a combination of skill assignments and projects designed to provide students with actual job training experience. Students obtain a working knowledge of system set-up, maintenance, upgrading, hardware assembly, basic repair, diagnostics, networking, communications, internet, and operating systems. National certifications are available within the course of study. Study prepares students for various Microsoft, CompTIA, and Cisco certifications. A diploma may be awarded for the completion of one year of study with advanced diplomas available with further education.
